Over the past few years we’ve seen a noticeable rise in our national mental health awareness. Every day we see more and more people choosing to prioritize their mental wellbeing as highly as they do their physical.

From childhood in Lexington, MA to her adulthood in Nashville, TN, Elisabeth Beckwitt has battled anxiety, depression, and addiction. She’s always felt that it’s important to be open and honest about her struggles so that she can encourage others to reach out and seek the help that they might need.

Elisabeth pairs her clear, powerful voice with an unapologetically supportive attitude towards her tribe and weaves them together into relatable stories with encapsulating melodies that build an intimate connection with her audience.

With her debut EP ’Gray Again” released in 2018 Elisabeth confronted her demons so we could all feel a little more comfortable talking about our own. She followed that up with an intimate series of live performance videos shot in her own home. "Static Sessions” gave us a look into how Elisabeth deals with the down days; some alone time with her piano Calliope, and some of the greats like Carole, Ingrid and Sara. Both of these records were released in 2019 as a limited edition vinyl.

“After sharing the darker side of my recovery on Gray Again, I wanted Indigo to feel a little more free spirited, almost like a celebration of the progress I’ve made so far.”

With her summer 2019 EP, “Indigo,” Beckwitt showed us the kind of life we can expect to find on the other side of recovery. A life where we embrace our inner strength and allow ourselves to move past whatever baggage is keeping us from moving forward in our relationships, both with others and with ourselves.

With the title track getting featured on Spotify’s premiere LGBTQIA+ playlist (Out Now) the Indigo EP surpassed 50,000 streams after only a few weeks, prompting Elisabeth and her team to jump right in to another release cycle. “Lovely,” the first single off what would be her latest EP, “Other Side Of Sober",” premiered just eight weeks later.

Throughout this journey not only have we seen Beckwitt evolve emotionally, but we’ve seen a dramatic evolution in her style as well. Over the past three records we’ve gotten to witness, in real time, the birth and growth of a powerhouse writing team between her and Producer/Writing partner Jason Threm, of TME. The duo is constantly drawing inspiration from current trends in the industry, as is evidenced by the strong Dark Pop vibes on this one, while still maintaining strong ties to Beckwitt’s singer-songwriter past. Other Side Of Sober has an eclectic yet cohesive soundscape that will keep you on your toes, always wondering whether the next track is going to be an ethereal meditation, a Dark Pop anthem, a Top 40 banger, or a heart wrenching piano ballad.

At the end of 2018 Elisabeth founded the Sad Girl Music brand as a means to support her fellow women trying to succeed in the industry. What started as a Spotify Playlist aiming to spotlight some local talent, has grown into a community focused on celebrating the vulnerability, strength, courage, and beauty of women. Elisabeth primarily uses the brand to host “Sad Girl Night”; the increasingly popular monthly showcase hosted at H.O.M.E.(Helping Our Music Evolve) where she can show off some of Nashville's most talented female artists.

When she isn’t hosting Sad Girl Night, you can catch Elisabeth playing shows locally in Nashville and will be touring regionally throughout 2020 to promote her recent releases.

Between leading one of the fastest growing local communities in town, her rapidly expanding catalog of music, sharing the stage with national touring acts, and her success both streaming and on local radio; it seems we’ve only scratched the surface of what we can expect from the Eastside’s favorite
